How can an individual bring social awareness to atrocities like the Holocaust?
Dear Journal,
When something bad happens, people react. Sometimes they are happy or sometimes they are annoyed or sad. There are courageous people that stand up for what they believe in and there are people that stay silent and watch what happens from the stands. There have been so many tragedies in our world such as September 11, 2001, the Triangle fire, and the Holocaust. There are so many things we as individuals can do to bring awareness and support for the victims of these terrible tragedies.
For example, we as bystanders could start protests to let other people know about the problem at hand, if a country or area is in need, we can send volunteers to go and give them food and clothing, or we can start a social uproar on the issue to maybe get the message spread.
The news is a great way to get an important message across to a huge audience. As a viewer of the news, you can email or send a letter to the news about the specific topic you want to be addressed.
Protests are also a very effective way to spread a message or awareness of a tragedy. You can run support groups for victims or you can volunteer at places that provide help for the victims.
There are various ways you can spread awareness for atrocities. Don't say silent, speak up for what you believe in and being awareness to the people that have suffered through tragedies.
