"How can language and rhetoric be used as tools for manipulation?"


Language and rhetoric can be very persuasive depending on the person using it. Language can be told in many different tones and can mean a variety of things. Rhetoric can be used to compliment the language use that people can portray. Language and rhetoric can be both good and bad. Manipulation works very similar. Manipulation can be used positively or negatively. For example, You can use language and rhetoric to manipulate someone in helping out at a homeless shelter. On the other hand, you can also use language and rhetoric to persuade someone to do dirty work for you such as doing something illegal or killing someone or many people at one time. Language and rhetoric will help manipulate the person by using certain tones and setting certain moods to persuade the person to do what you want them to do. Language, rhetoric, and manipulation can all be very effective, depending on how you use them.

Dear Journal, This week we have done quite a lot in class. First off , I already expressed we finished Lord of the Flies. For our final hurrah, we had a class debate. There were six or so groups and we had to each take turns going in the middle of the circle to discuss our views on the topics and listen to other's insight. The topics are as follows: whether Jack was an effective leader and were the kids bad before they got on the island or did the island turn them bad and bring the worst out of them. Rhetoric is a tool used in literature and sometimes everyday life that influence people and change their lives without them even knowing it. Rhetoric can be influenced by many different aspects. There are many different aspects of rhetoric such as tone, mood, etc. In today's society, people use rhetoric everyday. People can use rhetoric with the mood they portray to people. How might ambition influence ethical decision-making? Ambition can be both bad and good. Ambition can drive someone to achieve their life goals. On the other hand, ambition can drive someone to kill students in a kindergarten center. There are different aspects of ambition. How much ambition can also influence whether ambition is good or bad. Ambition can influence people and their decisions on what to do in certain circumstances.
