Why are some books banned from schools and libraries? What is your position regarding the removal of books from library and classroom shelves?

There are many books that are banned from schools and libraries for their history and maybe inappropriate language. Some events in history can be perceived in both positive and negative ways. Controversial topic books can also be revoked from libraries and schools due to the topic.

In my personal opinion, I believe that schools and libraries have absolutely no right to remove these profound books from their book selection because the books were written for a reason. That reason was to get their point across. How are students supposed to learn about the controversial topics if there are no books about them? Teachers will certainly not mention these topic that could potentially get them in trouble. How will the students learn from the mistakes from history if they don't even know what the mistakes were?! These books were written to bring awareness or tell stories about events that happened in history that the author may not want repeated. Why would you deprive children from the curiosity, history, stories, and events that may be "controversial" because of their inappropriate language or true stories that are too graphic? So what?! People have a right to learn and grow from these stories that are now being portrayed as " not appropriate for schools".

In conclusion, I believe that schools and libraries should allow these controversial, inappropriate books back so students can learn from the mistakes of the past.
